Pewter Spoons Workshop

Pewter is a very affordable, tarnish resistant white metal that is easily formed, does not need to be annealed, yet will sufficiently work harden when hammered and formed.

We will always use completely food grade pewter from Oster Pewter in RI. It is guaranteed to be food grade.

For this workshop, we will make the bowl of the spoon out of pewter and you can get creative for the handle.  Copper or a variety of metals and materials can be used and riveted to the spoon bowl. This is a fun workshop and makes a great gift item.

Pewter dust contaminates other metal when soldered, therefore, we need dedicated files, saw blades, and drill bits for working only with pewter.

Pewter – approximately $10.00 for a 3 x 3 sheet

small copper nails and matching drill bits for rivets

3 bench pins for sawing pewter

your choice of metal or object for the spoon handle

any tools, metals of choice, or materials you need for your particular design

a few bezel cups for small stones to embellish if you want

anything else you will need for your design

The studio has several tools to use for metalsmithing other than pewter.
