Progressive Metalsmithing with Doris King - Tuesdays

Description: Take your skills to the next level in a welcoming studio and learn at your own pace with a circle of other like-minded creatives. Instruction is individualized and based upon each student’s area of interest and current skill level. These are not project-based classes; students design and create their own pieces with the support and feedback of the instructor and peers. Students are provided 1:1 instruction time as well as group demonstrations. Because students of all skill levels are in the same class, there is a rich opportunity for sharing ideas and growing a creative community.

Experience Level: Beginner through Advanced

Instructor: Doris King has taught silversmithing for over 25 years.

My goals as your instructor:

·       provide a studio with basic tools and equipment

·       teach traditional metal fabrication and metal clay techniques, the advantages of each, and how to incorporate both in designs

·       guide students to create their own designs based on individual skill sets

·       promote a community spirit that allows creativity to grow within an environment free of comparison, competition and judgment

·       encourage a lightheartedness that fosters a willingness to experiment and play as new skills are being learned
